The Muraleando collective labored many months to ready the 100-year-old water tank for its grand opening. They installed doors, windows, electric grid, and bathrooms. They built a courtyard and patio, surrounded by a wall with locking gates and mosaic decoration. And they created a hanging rail for artwork encircling the tank on the inside. Starting with its opening exhibition, “El Tanque” became a new community center in Lawton, housing Art Gallery and classroom space for workshops for adults and children in ceramics, bookmaking, papier mache, dance& theater.
